Musica Surfica (you have the image from newsletter copy)

This highly unusual film is a multi-national award winner and this double set is very worthy. In May 2007 Derek Hynd led a diverse group of surfers to the edge of the Southern Ocean for a grand experiment in finless surfing backed by a classical music soundtrack. The documentary features Derek and Tom along with Australian Chamber Orchestra Musical Director and surfer, Richard Tognetti. They were joined by Tom Carroll, Belinda Baggs, Dale Egan, Sage and Heath Joske, Dane Peterson and more. The 2-disc set includes the soundtrack CD as well as on DVD - director's voice over, a musical extra, finless and finned extras, reshaping of boards and a special feature on renowned mat rider Warren Pfeiffer. I always see or hear something new in this package. It is one of my stand out favorites.

Alaia Story:  34 minutes of alaia mania

This is my documentation of the first two and a half years of pursuing the alaia.  In early 2005, Jacob Stuth and I were the only people I know that were into them.  We were alone and stoked out of our heads.  We made many boards and pursued the shapes with passion.  Slowly, our enthusiasm became contagious and others started riding them

Early on I realized that a very interesting story was unfolding so I purchased a video camera and editing software and started capturing the adventure

I am not a great video editor and Alaia Story is not a highly produced movie, but the camera work, music and documentation is good.   It is really a must see for anyone interested in the Alaia
